Large gilded bronze lamp with chiseled decoration of a Fame, flame in hand, wings spread.
On the tip of one foot, it dominates the sphere constituting the plamette base, square in shape in onyx.
Empire style.
End of the XIX century.
This lamp still has its original gilding.
Lampshade to change.
Fame is an allegorical Greek deity, winged deity, bearer of the messages of Zeus.
There are multiple representations in Versailles (Neptune Basin), in the Louvre by Coysevox, in Chantilly at the top of the Grandes Ecuries...or at the top of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
